Arto Saari is one of the most revered and lauded street skaters in our industry. In a skateboarding world that is filled to overflowing with the halfway decent, Arto stands out. When he emerged from Finland, he pushed the bar high and kept it there. His skateboarding history speaks for itself. His video parts continue to stand the test of time and he still rides a skateboard better than most.
I’ve had the privilege to get to know Arto Saari and he is both generous and humble. He has delved deep into photography over the years. Fine tuning. Craft. Perfect in so many ways. His images are a direct line into how he thinks. His vision. His discovery. He presents them to the world in a subtle fashion. He worked to get what he wanted. He aligned his vision with our reality. He moves on… The ICON has been holding the Arto Saari photographic exhibition. It started September 5th and is running until October 31st. MRZ and I drove over and took a look throughout the exhibit. It is a stunning display of skateboarding, culture and lifestyle. It is one we all know. It is us. Thank you to Arto for being who he is. Thank you to MRZ for the images. Go visit The Icon and view the Arto Saari exhibit. Skate- Ozzie
