Steve Caballero - Del Mar

Steve Caballero – Del Mar

My Life With Steve Caballero

I have a long personal relationship with Steve Caballero. We go way back. I’m not bragging. Well, yes I am. I met Cab when I worked at the Del Mar Skate Ranch in… I’m guessing 1979. I began shooting photos in 1979 and one of the first good photos that I shot, or at least one of the first photos I was proud of, was an ollie shot in the kidney pool at Del Mar. I wasn’t the big shot photographer back then that I am now and I didn’t have the nerve to actually ask Cab to do an ollie in the kidney, so I just posted up at the deep end and stalked Stevie for a bit. Somehow, I pulled off the exposure and the focus on my normal lens, on my normal Minolta SRT201 camera and captured one of my personal favorite shots that I personally shot of Steve Caballero. The photographs of Steve that I present here are from 1980 to the present and to this day I still get giddy while shooting my old friend. Lucky. – Grant Brittain
